the first thing you should do is NOT think that you have the capability to help somebody who is schizophrenic!!! You cannot, and there is no reasoning with them because the fact of the matter is, it is their reality. They really do hear these voices or see these things just as clearly as you see the computer screen infront of you and hear the tapping of the keys on your keyboard as you type. It's a very serious disease but the delusions and hallucinations only go away with psychotropic medication and a psychiatrist' evaluation for possible hospital admittance.
I'm not sure how old you are but maybe you can talk to your little brother's friends mother or father...if not you then tell your parents to talk to them b/c they are concerned.
Do it now better than later.
okay? Take care--hope it helped.

If he blacks out,as you said, and the voices take over, I dont think hes just schizophrenic, he may also have that split personality disorder, but thats for his Psychiatrist to decide.. My aunt is Schizophrenic and I know that she hates taking her medicine.. The only way that my mom can make her take her medicine is to have her hospitalized for the minimum 5 days in a Behavioral center or force to evict her from our house.. If hes still a child then his mother could have him hospitalized... If hes an adult and he is a danger to himself, (which cutting himself is a danger to himself) then he can be put into a hospital..He also appears to be a danger to others around him, in this case, he can also involuntairly be hospitalized..In either case, he should see his Psychiatirst, maybe you can tell the DR. what he says.

Schizophrenia? First of all, we are all schizophrenic to some degree... if we want to label ourselves in this way. Personally, I believe this label is primarily used because those using it have no idea what is going on within someone, and they add up the symptoms and look within a big book and there is label that covers these symptoms. It tells us nothing at all about the problem the person is having.... does it?
There are two reasons for a person "hearing" voices. One is rather common in those exhibiting these symptoms, and the other is less common. The first is a case of "dissociation", which means that a person is unable to own the level of negativity that is surfacing within him/herself, and thus, his/her MIND creates others to blame for the negativity. The cure for this is to facilitate this person in discovering the source of the negativity from within his/herself, and to locate the origin or it, and then encourage the forgiveness of oneself for having it.
Unfortunately, not one in a thousand mental health practitioners are capable of this level of therapeutic intervention.
The other case is where one is, by denial of a portion of ones own MIND realm, inviting an entity into contact with one... and this contact is usually quite negative. Fortunately this situation is quite rare, and it takes a specially trained individual to deal with this type of problem.
Because the West has been under the domination of behaviorism for over a century now, ignorance of the MIND and what I call the Apapsyche [the Operational Energy of the Soul] is wide spread, and no college or university today is teaching the experiental processes of acccessing the Esoteric realms within Man as part of the curriculum for psychology or mental health.
The only way you could be of practical help to this person is if you have developed a level of [NSgy] Neutral Spiritual energy, sufficiently to empathically order his MIND to cease resisting the negativity and to embrace it as misperceptions of his own energy [and the explanation of this is rather involved]. To achieve this level of [NSgy] requires one to undergo an extensive program of personal therapy.... and this is rare today.
There are a few therapists capable of providing your friend the help he needs.... but how you might find such a person is another question....since they represent less than 5% of all within the fields of mental health and psychology.
I throw this out as an idea.... if you could get him to ask a question on this format, he might receive some symbols that his Apapsyche could use to begin to awaken from within himself what he needs to know. Just a thought.

I would say he needs to be under constant professional attention, at least until they can get him on some long term effective treatment that will control the voices and the suicidal urges.

You can volunteer to use drugs with him. At least 1 in four people will be a real person. You could help your friends brother argue with the alter personalities. Honestly, I think you should find a new friends.

Wow, you really can't spell. Maybe you have some problems yourself. Perhaps he is not schizophrenic at all, maybe he's posessed by the ghost of Rodney Dangerfield.
