The speed sensor on the taurus is tough to get to. It is on the right side (passenger side) top of the housing. It's right next to the engine mount behind the exhaust manifold. It is best to drop the sub frame down and loosen the bolts on the steering rack to gain enough clearance to get you hands in there.

There is only one speed sensor. The transmission range sensor is on the top drivers side of the trans where the shifter cable attaches. It is much easier to access than the speed sensor.

Danny B is actual, the sensor is hidden a touch even with the undeniable fact that this is on the butt end of the transmission close to to the position the right axle comes out.. It sits on correct and usually has a silver colored cover on it... very last one I were given from the right through leaning over the motorized vehicle to get at it..

there are a few types of speed sensors on your car. You need to be a little more specific..ie......trans, engine ??????
The transmission has 2. One is for vehicle speed, located on the top of the case by the passanger side axle. The other is a turbine speed sensor, located on the side of the transmission, next to the drivers side axle..
