Do any boffins out there know if the ingredients in medication can actually cause weight gain or is it purely that they effect you psychologically?

yep prozac make you gain weight or it stops you losing weight which is really weird as prozac stops my hunger i don't know the actual ingredients without looking. It's not psychologically as i do eat my hubby makes me and i still can't loose weight so i don't really know.

Yes they do. I currently take one that has that bad side effect. If you want to find out for sure, go to Google type in your medication name and also side effects. If that doesn't help, try typing in your medication and weight gain right after. If it causes weight gain, it will say.

sorry am not a boffin but am diabetic and am on two types of tablets one puts weight on and the other is meant to help take it off ... so they are meant to balance each other out.. or so the Dr says.....plus inhalers can put weight on

the short answer is yes. steriods and some forms of birth control pills are just some of the meds that cause weight gain.
