Yes you would have to pay every year. Try Grisoft AVG anti-virus it is free and I have had it 2 yrs. I am completelly satisfied with it.

If you don't renew, it'll keep protecting your PC exactly as it is right now.
But, you won't get any new virus definition updates. This means that you're only protected against existing known viruses, but not against any new ones (of which there are many that appear almost daily).
All Anti-virus providers work this way, so using different software won't help - you'll also have to renew your subscription to that after about a year.

Like a lot of others it will require you to pay to keep protecting you against all the new virus' and spyware.
you wll still be protected against the extant ones but they will be replaced by better virus' and therefore need updated security.
PAy up or try a free one, if it is home use then the free one is ok

If you want updates, you have to pay for a subscription. When you bought the software, it came with a one year subscription. If you want to keep the antivirus definitions up to date, you will have to subscribe for another year. If you can get the new package cheaper than renewing your subscription, I'd do that.

i have Norton and i pay a yearly subscription to keep my pc virus free. most work that they so it would be pointless buying a new virus programe because the same will happen again it will cost you less renewing your subscription than buying a new programe every year

sorry, thats the problem with these avps (anti-virus-programs),you have to subscribe yearly to keep updates, and with so many good free avps there is no need
go to http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html,and download the latest version of this brilliant avp ,it has all the functions of macafee, but its free, and to show how good it is,i installed it on a mates p.c who was using norton avp and when i installed avast it found 12 viruses,so why didnt norton, because its no good
i used to pay for avp,s but i have found free versions to be jus t as good ,if not better so download it today and with the money you save ,have a night out,and think of macafee,,,,ha,ha
good luck

If that's true, that's ridiculous. They should give existing customers a break. But, I can believe that it's true because if they gave everyone life subscriptions then they wouldn't make any money.
Symantec is better anyways, maybe you should switch to them.

hi, i recommand you to use firefox with Google toolbar. firefox can disable all virus to run, because the virus can only run on IE.
besides, firefox can block any any poppus and disable any virus and adware, spyware on webpage, so, firefox is much safer than IE. as you know, most of the virus is spread throught internet and webpage.
firefox is much smaller than IE, so i run faster than IE.
download firefox for free:
