Somehow I've picked up this annoying pop up disguised as a windows dialogue box

Its headed " Language pack installation" and gives the following info.
" To display language characters correctly you need to install the following language packs, chinese simplified"

It has the check box " Never install any language packs"
and the usual "Install" and "Cancel" boxes.

The thing is, the popup bloker is enabled. Firewall & anti virus along with spybot are up to date and not picking up anything.
Of course clicking the boxes has no effect except getting rid of it for about 3 mins then its back.
Out of frustration I've clicked intall only to cancel a nano second later after seeing the heading " Dirty disgusting..... " Didnt catch the rest.
I'm tempted just to download the thing and let the anti virus take care of it, UNLESS anyone knows better!

Now there's a thing. Norton, spybot and ad aware all missed it.
So I've downloaded the yahoo tool bar and it's found a trojan. I'll never say a bad word against Yahoo again.
Now just to get rid of it. Any ideas? its in the BHO somewhere

control panel, add and remove programs, check for new programs that you didn't put there and remove them, some times scamming dodgy websites install extra programs when you download. chek it out, you may need to reboot a few times in the process but it should be o.k. run additional scans when complete.
it's called malware... mal(icious soft)ware. totally fraudulent.
the program allows the scammer to bypass your security and fire wall once installed.
anti virus and spyware removers will not detect it.
do not system restore, it will mess up your pc even more.

this is not a security breach,it is a legitimate microsoft application that is part of internet explorer
everytime you go to a sight that may be wrote in japanese for instance, internet explorer will ask you do you want to install a language pack, personally i just dont bother as its not worth it,but you can install it,its quite safe
i did install one as it was a page that had a driver i needed and it did no harm at all
as it isnt classed as any type of malware ,no security program(anti-virus,firewall,spybot)will pick it up so dont worry, your programs are running fine ,and spybot wont actually pick up anything like a firewall or virus scanner
with regard to the "dirty disgusting"message that came up this was probally what the page actually said, but you coulnt recognize it until the language pack was installed
if you are not sure of a page download mcafee site advisor(http://www.siteadvisor.com/),this will let you know if the site is safe before you actually go there...green(safe)red(not-safe)grey(not-tested)yellow(caution)
great bit of software, has helped me loads
good luck

I had it happen once, But I have MAc Afee and it caught it and said trojan detected and then after it did a complete scan and then it said it deleted the file.
Then it told me to restart my computer and scan all files ( again )

I had problems with the Yahoo tool bar. Ive tried it 3 times now. ( i pick it up when Im doing some Yahoo thing and dont bother to read their conditions) EVRYTIME I get it it messes with my regular pop up blocker and weird things start to happen so I have to uninstall it.
I would try going in and deleting all your cookies , that helps too sometimes.
Good luck

hi, i recommand you to use firefox with Google toolbar. which is most powerful in popup blocking..

besides, firefox can block any any poppus and disable any virus and adware, spyware on webpage, so, firefox is much safer than IE. as you know, most of the virus is spread throught internet and webpage.

firefox is much smaller than IE, so i run faster than IE.

download firefox for free:
