If you have any search bars such as google, msn or yahoo for example, remove these in 'add/remove prgrams' as these can cause problems. Also download adaware and do a scan for malware as this can also slow down ie.

I'm had the same a wile ago and found it was my Video card doing it then I bought a new one it is fixed now but if you have dial up and running Xp it still happens because for some reason the site you lock onto or xp is having a slo go.
Last night I upgrated my new Video card driver and it got worse again (before no problems with the new card) so did a rollback and now I am ok again.
Take care!

Most people who don't know much about computers use MSIE because it's all they know (after all IT=Microsoft right?) it's the no.1 guaranted way to get malware on your system. I suggest FireFox. It's free to download and use and is made independently of any one company's interest. If this is happening for other applications too then you should get a malware removal program.
