It's a passive agressive move to control behavior or to express displeasure with someone without getting into high emotional discourse. Shunning is quite an effective social control because we are such a "social species".

You need a mental "time out" from the drama that person is causing in your life.

If you ignore people for NO reason - you are just plain rude .

Because sometimes people say things so stupid that instead of answering them with a calm retort, you want to cut off their face and wear it as a Halloween mask or rip off their ear and yell your objections into them. In those cases, I try to ignore. Doesn't always work, but it does explain my face and ear collection.

I feel alot better when the other person thinks they can't get to me. Of course once they are out of earshot, I give 'em hell!
