That's pretty scary. I do not think a fox would make heavy footsteops. They are generally light on thier feet. Also, if a fox attacked your chickens, there would be some remains left. If there is nothing left, that would suggest that someone stole them. Look for scratch marks on the back door. Regardless of what you find, you should report the missing chickens to the police and let them investigate.

Must be a riddle. First, a fox wouldn't sound like "heavy" footsteps -- not even a large fox -- and it certainly wouldn't be trying the door. So you heard heavy footsteps, something trying the door and the chickens are all gone -- but you don't mention hearing the chickens make any noise. Anyone who has chickens knows they wouldn't go quietly. Will it come back? Yeah, I think you might have this dream again.

A fox would not have heavy footsteps, and would certainly not try thr back door, sounds more like a human fox to me. Fox may take chickens but more likely coyotes, owls are also culprits of chicken snatching. However only humans try to get in the door.

You heard footsteps and you think it was a fox? You might be mystical, but you're not that bright. Foxes have pads on their paws, if one came up on your porch, you wouldn't hear it, unless everything was deathly quiet and the windows were open near to where it was walking. A more likely explanation is that aliens were checking you out and got a hankering for some fried chicken. Happens all the time.

A fox in the Western world is the Red Fox (Vulpes vulpes),
Foxes are usually not pack animals. Typically, they are solitary, opportunistic feeders that hunt live prey (especially rodents).
They are usually able to kill their prey quickly. Foxes also gather a wide variety of other foods ranging from grasshoppers to fruit and berries.
Foxes are normally extremely wary of humans, and are not kept as pets, but the Silver Fox was successfully domesticated in Russia after a 45 year selective breeding program.
See if you have rodents or mice. This would indicate the reruns.

I wouldn't think a fox would have heavy footsteps. Could it be a person?

if it is fox which it soulds like it is, it will be back because of the chickens and a food source. make sure you set enough trapes over the next few days.

you have been robbed you will not hear any wild animal walking about on your porch.
if it was a wild animal your chickens would have made a loud noise in panic and there would have been blood and feathers all over..
and just to clear things up how many wild animals have you ever heard of that will try door handles to get in somewhere.
it was definitely human lowlifes robbing your place

I think you should by a camera and hide it outside so you will know exactly what it was, girlfriend. That didn't sound to me like a fox was the one responsible for this incident.
