It requires you to use the tech 2. Your best bet is to take it to a GM dealership and have them check it.

Chain or ignition timing? Engine ignition timing is not adjustable but GM TECH II device can check timing, chain timing get the factory shop manual.

With OBD2 60º V6's from GM you can use DHP tuning, but I'm not sure if this is applicable to all GM OBD2 engines. If that's not the case then I think you're out of luck.
