Alaska - it's got such incredible scenery and is so big and open. The sort of place you can go and escape from everything.

Hawaii - It's the only tropical climate on Earth with American standards of living.
Runner-ups: I like Texas as a State because it is one of the few states I've been to with a real identity. It's one of the best kept secrets in America that people there are culturally friendly.
I can honestly say, the USA is the best. We have too many good places.

New York--it has everything. Big cities, countryside, beaches, mountains, four seasons, great social policies, excellent education, an infrastructure that welcomes new comers & that is able to handle large influxes of people (immigrants), it's diverse, has an excellent educational system (for the most part) and draws people from all over the world. It leads the nation in commerce, fashion, art etc. etc. It's a great place.

Nebraska. You can have it all for less. From a good-sized city (Omaha) to hundreds of small towns, this truly is the "Good Life".
But if money were no object I would live in Texas. I hate winter and California is full of weirdos and overcrowded.

Besides Hawaii, I love Washington State! The topography is wonderful. You can be in the desert one moment and the mountains in another. The summers are wonderful!!!!!

Colorado is my favorite state. It has four distinct seasons, beautiful mountains, the Denver Broncos, and no natural disasters.

Utah. The nature is gorgeousnad people are nice (and I don't care what their religion is as long as they don't care about mine).
Close runner-up - California. Sunny and beautiful. Minuses - they don't have a real winter (with snow) and sometimes it's too crowded.
