Dats a rather intresting question. A squib is one who was born n belongs in the magical world, with witch n wizard as parents, with relations of magical blood, and even friends who belong to the magical world. They may study magic constantly, nut no matter how hard they try or practice they simply cannot perform the teeniest bit of magic. Perfect examples would include Mrs Figg, N maybe even neville, oh yes, n of course, Mr Filch! : )

A Squib is a person who was born to magical parents, but possesses magic whatsoever themselves. The Harry Potter Lexicon can offer the best insite to this matter:

"A Squib is not a Muggle. Born to a wizarding family, a Squib has such a low level of magical power that he or she is essentially unable to do any magic at all. However, while a Squib cannot cast spells, he or she can apparently see magical beings such as poltergeists, though not dementors (JKR).

Some Squibs seem to have formed special bonds with cats, whom they refer to as Mr or Mrs. It is possible that these cats function as guides and aides to Squibs as they live in a world in which they don't really fit. In a sense, these cats may be the wizarding equivalent of Guide Dogs and other animals which are trained to help Muggles with disabilities.
"squib" - Eng. a dud firework that won't ignite properly "

Two known Squibs in the series are Harry's crazy neighbor, Arabella Figg, and the Hogwarts groundskeeper, Argus Filch.

I personally do not believe that Squibs will play a large role in Book 7. I think the majority of the book will be devoted to Harry and his hunt fot the Horcruxes.

A non-magic person born of wizarding parents, a much rarer phenomenon than a Muggle-born witch or wizard.

Arabella Figg

Argus Filch

A squib is a non-magical person they are always born to Witches and Wizards; and the squib use cats, just like a blind person uses a see eye dog, to help them survive in the magical world of Witches and Wizards,

A squib is a person born to a magical family that has no magical talent. Like Filch and I think Petunia is probably one too. That would explain why she hated Lily so much. Just a theory....maybe Lily and Petunia's parents weren't muggles afterall? We don't know much about them, but Harry is going to find out more at Godric's Hollow in Book 7.

A squib is a wizard or witch who has no magical talent, can't do magic. Filch, the guard guy at the Hogwarts, is a squib.

It is someone who has wizard parents but basically can not do magic themselves. they are one step up from being muggles. They also seem to be able to communicate with cats. Each squib in the books have cats who seem to let them know when something is going on.
