It's been my own experience that blacks are much more racist than whites, in both proportion and degree. I've seen many blacks use their ancestors' past as an excuse to avoid responsibility for their own present--and their own future. It's easier for them to blame others and go on feeling sorry for themselves, than to get off their @$$es and actually do something constructive about their problems.
However, as far as I've seen most people of whatever race are not racists, thank God!

Well, I had not heard of anyone else asking this question, contrary to the previous respondents. Has anyone asked why one black person can call another black person the 'N' word, and it is okay, but if a white person does it, they are now 'racist?" And why do black people fail to acknowledge that blacks started the slave industry in Africa long before the white people used the slaves on plantations? And why do black people have no knowledge of how MY ancestors ( Native Americans ) were treated long before the blacks ever set foot in the USA? What is more interesting is the Native American nations are still getting discriminated against by the US government. The only reason we even hear from or about Native Americans these days is because they successfully started the casinos on their territorial property. Of course, the US government is taxing the hell out of it, which starts a whole different conversation.

I suppose it would be like Nazis and Jews--the Nazis did such horrible things to the Jews, that it is acceptable for a Jew to be racist against a Nazi, but not a Nazi against a Jew. (P.S. that is assuming the Nazi is what he defines as "Aryan"! Many don't live up to their own ideal!) In the same vein, the conglomerate race of "whites" perpetrated horrors against the dark skinned races of the world, especially Africans in the practice of slavery, so it is seen as acceptable for a black person to be racist against a white, while a white person being racist against a black is seen as an automatic "call to slavery" because of the historic precedent. I'm not saying it is right to be racist, but in the case of blacks vs. whites, I can understand the tendency. A better solution would be mending the past and focusing on the present, but unfortunately not all folks think that way, and there are plenty of racist whites left, especially those whose banner is that very flag you use as an avatar. To some, raising the Stars and Bars is like unto raising the red, black and white Swastika; both are symbols of intolerance and the persecution of a group or groups based on race. It is hard to forget wrongs if there are still folks out there who persist in thinking and acting according to racist tenets. It is still a very real threat to both Jews and blacks, although it is no longer a 'nationally' accepted practice. Racism is endemic everywhere and unfortunately it isn't something you can just get rid of by wishing it. The best thing to do is not to perpetuate it by being racist yourself. If you set a good example, there are those who will follow.
P.S. You don't live in the South, do you pops? P.P.S. Good show, pops. AL and TN here-guess we've seen different things! I let it go--was just trying to get inside the mind of those who won't.

Because we now live in a politically correct society. I mean people get offended if we call black people...black. Don't you dare mention the feared "n" word because we'll have another riot in L.A. I don't like that word for the negative historic conotation it implies. Just like I don't like that word and any use or reference to it, I don't understand how black people, oops I mean African-Americans, can call white people cracker, whitey, snow etc. etc. and it's quite alright to do so? Is it because they were oppressed since the 1700's? I'm sorry but get over it. My very best friend in the world is black so I'm not biased against blacks, whites, purple, green, whatever. OK so show me, today, 2006, how anyone for that matter, is directly affected because of what happened to people of your race 40, 50 years ago.
Thru the fair hiring process, equal rights, civil rights, I think we are at more of a level playing field than ever before. Sure there are still people that hate us Mexicans, Blacks and whites but I'll be damned if I'll let some ignorant, bigoted, racist ruin my day because he called my race beaners, wetbacks, lazy, ugly whatever. I'm responsible for me and my family and their well being.
Oh poor me! That's B.S. and it's a cop out. Just let it go. I'm sorry your/our ancestors where beaten, tortured, enslaved, persecuted and ridiculed. Don't let that happen to you. We now have the opportunity like never before to break that cycle of genocide.

Actually believe it or not, there are places where we practice a more equal equality. I am in the military and a black guy made a racial comment to me, when our commander found out about it he was directed to go to our agency that deals with discrimination. I do not know what they did with him, but the equal oppurtunity office told me I could report it if I wanted to. I decided it was not a big deal, I could care less what he thought of whites. I know where I stand, I do not hate because of race, and understand that being white automatically makes me a racist in some peoples minds. I just roll with the flow and realize that there is a double standard in place.

Don't put up with it when they do. Start changing things right here and now. Next time a black person says something to you about whites, just look at them and say "that's racist as hell, you know that?"

What a crock of sh*t spacebunny. How can you compare what hitler did 65 years ago,to "just a way of life"225 years ago.Yes,it may have been wrong 225 years ago,but laws weren't being broken, its just the way things were.It took a civil war to change things, but things "changed".IT IS OVER ! But a lot of black people refuse to admit "IT'S OVER"! Instead they rather sit around complaining about the way of life 225 years ago.The reason we still have racism is the black people wont let it go.

It's called rough justice.
Have you nothing better to do than fight amongst yourselves? You DO realise this is all created for the purpose of taking your attention away from the real issues, don't you? Or are you simply another puppet that cannot see the bigger picture?

That isn't entirely true. If a black man came up to me and called me chalky, I would consider it racist!
Anyone that slanders another race is called racist. It isn't just a white on black thing!
