The reason I'm asking is cause I've been there not too long ago. It has some beautiful islands and beacher but the government is really screwed up. It was also creepy going into a restaurant with a young security guard standing there holding a machine gun. Also, I could not enjoy the beaches very much because soon as I stepped on the beach, I would be accosted by a dozen peddlers wanting to sell you their tinkets. Same with walking around in the city of Cebu...beggars everywhere. I know there is a lot of poverty there, but that really ruined the trip for me.

pity to hear that but that's a reality if you're white tourist. for asian tourist like me i'm spared from that as i look very much like a local people.
girls are average. if u destined to meet really pretty pinay it's ur day. if otherwise it's just like everywhere in the world. i dont believe that phils have a higher density of pretty women. it's all same in the world. u can say they're pretty because u r white and it's not abnormal for whites to like asian girls. for me, asian guy, they're all just look the same.

well, the government is untouchable, for now.....But everywhere else, not only in the philippines are there screwed up government, people or anything for that matter.
Children selling their trinkets is already part of Filipino Culture, better than peddling drugs right? They sell sampaguitas(national flower) clips, candies, etc.
As for going to Hawaii, don't mean to burst your bubble, almost half of the population there are of Filipino descent.....
Well, if you really didn't enjoy then I'm sorry. You weren't able to get the true essence of visiting the philippines.

That's not a fun part of reality. I've been there a few times and had a great time. I'm Mexican and a lot of people there confuse me for a Filipino so I don't have much trouble blending in.
