Well I love the history, the cultural diversity, the vibrancy and the energy that comes out of the country, I get to travel there a bit on business, and I must admit, I'm completely addicted. Also to their food! The real stuff, not the crap that gets served here in the UK.
OK, the movies are pretty crap and way over the top, and there is a lot of poverty, but poverty exists everywhere including the west.
I love everything from the Middle East going across Asia... Asia I feel is my spiritual home... so steeped in history and mystery, it's almost magical and you can gain a sense of peace if you just open your eyes.
Most people are ignorant of what is unknown, look at all the Muslim bashing on this site.... ignorance... I travel to the Middle East a lot, and find the muslim people to be warm and welcoming and will open their homes and their hearts to you, do you find that in America? or in the UK? No you certainly do not.

If someone said to me today, 'Let's go to India.' I'd drop everything and go, It is a fantastic country, steeped in history and a complete mixture of cultures. And yes, English is an Indo-European language, which can be traced back to Sanskrit.
But that's not what fascinates me. India is about people.
OK it's dirty, but I live in Switzerland, so for me England's dirty. In India, you soon come to terms with the minor inconveniences.
I have a great deal of respect for people who live in India - even Bollywood films make me want to book the next flight to Mumbai.
Westerners can learn a lot from the Indian subcontinent - and I don't mean by going to an Ashram.
Something just occurred to me: has ads-the-devil ever been to India?

I agree with you. I think the guy was ignorant. First of all, I don't see how he can make a generalized statement about India. "Everything from India is complete garbage". Has he ever been to India? Has he ever been to another country or another state. What is his basis for making that statement?
Also, There's filth everywhere, there's filth and poverty in this country too. So are people here filth? Are our movies garbage? I think he needs to do some research at least before he can even make statements like this. This just goes to show you that even with the technology available to educate people, some choose to stay ignorant because they are afraid that once they learn about another culture, they may end up liking it. Some people are just born hateful and I think he is one of them.

I wouldn't worry about this kid. Yeah, he's probably a Westerner, but he's probably also like 10, and Daddy bought him a computer to play on to keep the brat out of his hair during the day.
Unfortunately, there are a lot of bratty, mouthy, spoiled little children playing on this site. I personally think you should be 18 with some of the content on here.
BTW...Indian food is AWESOME, and the Hindu faith is very beautiful., and I'm a "Westerner". Peace.

Goodday mate, aaahhh a person who hates india, ads_the_devil....hehehhehee....You suck man, look at the mirror and you'll c a loser (ads_the_devil)...hehehhehe, yup that's you, a lame loser....
For you maybe India is garbage, but i guess for the rest of 1 billion population living in India, its home, and there is nowhere and nothing like home.
Talking about history aight, well let me refresh your bright educated curious mind. Before Britishers, the Moguls ruled India, and y is that? The answer is simple, because Indians are Hindu. Peace loving people, Hindu people. They have been conquered and robbed both by weterners and arabs, yet we still see India will be the future of the Earth.
Beware white racist a-s-s whipes, you conquered us once, we'll conquer you now, yet not physically because these asians are humans not animals like we were once, technically is already work in progress.

In answer to jetblakkmane - he's not being a hypocrite, since the key difference here is the fact that Vik's question and comments are in defence against a CLEARLY racist generalisation - and Vik's comments are directed at an individual, not a whole SUB-CONTINENT of ethnically, religiously, politically and culturally diverse people!

I had the pleasure of working with a engineer from India and met and visited with his family,
Ate at their home , I learned many things about India, they still believe in a "caste" system and it is very hard for a low caste to rise, this is why many leave.

I've learned that people can only see what their heart wants to feel.
Folks that categorize a nation and a people in such denigrating terms are only expressing the bitterness and emptiness within their own lives. Until and unless something happens to enlighten them, they will try to spread their misery where ever they possibly can. Their lives are so shallow and meaningless, it gives them a sense of worth and a measure of control.
