He is not trying to walk. It is just reflex that all babies have. So yes its normal. Even when in the womb they show the baby to do walking motions pushing up against the uterus in a walking motion, I saw this on a show from conception to birth on the discovery channel. Its very normal.

Babies cannot walk or even attempt to walk at 6 weeks. They do not have the strength in their legs to withhold their body weight, much less the ability to move as they are walking. I think maybe it's just wishful thinking. You shouldn't even be holding your baby by his/her arms at 6 weeks. Most babies start walking around 7-10 months.

It´s actually kinda like a reflex, you know when they start gripping stuff, it´s the same with the "walking", you must mean that he moves his legs like walking when you hold him up yea?! Not actually trying to walk on his own..?
My first son, he done that when he was only 2 weeks old, but like I said it´s a reflex..most babies do it...
(The other people answering here who says"that´s not possible" and so on, apparently don´t have any kids of their own...! Sorry, just saying..)

The stepping reflex you are talking about is perfectly normal. This is not an actual attempt at walking, but it is a necessary reflex in infants. It will gradually disappear, and has nothing to do with how soon your child will be walking.

with you holding his arms at 6 weeksi ts called a stepping reflex and all newborns do it it is not attempting to walk if you hold any baby by his arms they will attempt to walk and you are damaging your babys legs by doing that his legs are not strong enough to support his weight stop rushing him to walk there is no award for it you know!

It's a reflex -- kind of like when you first held your baby for the first time and he wrapped his fingers tight around yours. I wouldn't suggest holding your baby by the arms at that age, though. You can easily pull his arms out of his sockets, and putting pressure on his legs that way can cause permanent damage.

All babies start walking at different times. Most start when they are 1. But if your baby is starting to walk at six months, go with it and help the baby out. It's better to hold on to him under his armpits and he or she will feel better walking with some support.

some toddlers develop swifter than others, certain it is early even with the undeniable fact that this is not a foul element. My son is 11 days previous, and is making an attempt to roll over. He all started conserving his head up at a million day previous.
