you got it all wrong... the boat goes in the water not water in the boat!!!.....seriously you buy a device that the water hose attaches to and it holds the hose on the cooling water intake ports ..it is shaped like a set of headphones.. and slips over the cooling water intake ports look like little air vents about 12 inches from and in front of the the propeller on an inboard mercruiser ...most are very similer...good luck

Depends on your motor of course. If it's a small one, cut the top off a barrel and clamp the motor to the rim (put a 2 x 4 on it to help support it), fill it with water and fire it up. If it's larger, go to the boat shop. They will sell you a gadget that looks like a pair of ear muffs that will go over the water inlet and clamp in place, and it will have a hose connection on it. Hook up the hose, turn on the water and go from there.

need boat info and engine type and age. we use a flusher in most cases for outdrive systems. can be purchased at any boat shop or even walmart. it goes over the grates on the side of outdrive. rec. duct tape cuz it may slip. small motors you can get by with 5 gallon bucket under motor, keep hose turned on and don't shift it into gear. mayneed to use blocks to raise bucket til skeg touches bottom. don't raise idle too hi either. now, for tournament style boats or engines with sea pumps there is a pickup under boat. use a fakealake unit for the underneath style pickup. either way, don't run too long on any of them and keep an eye on temp gage if equipped. on small outboard motors then if the block is too hot to touch then it's overheating. most outboards run 120 to 140 t-stats and i/o's and inboards run 140 to 160 t-stats. that should do it for ya, best of luck.
