First, worrying about worrying will not help. Stress has been shown to decrease birth weight (not very much though) and it can make labor start and stop but little things like not drinking enough water in the days before labor can do the same thing. You WILL have the baby. I had two very stressful pregnancies and one baby was 4 weeks early and one arrived two weeks late. The best thing you can do is talk to your doctor and try to relax. Follow your doctor's advice above anything you hear here. Walking is a good way to relieve stress and help start labor. Your doctor may have told you other "tricks" to start labor, here are some my doctor told me.
*walking
*bouncing gently on a big exercise ball (worked for me)
*having intercourse (complete with orgasm if possible)
*nipple stimulation (WARNING this can cause really strong contractions. It's best to do lots of little sessions and see if you can't get your partner to join in the fun.)
Don't try any herbs, medicines or supplements unless your doctor says its okay.
I promise, you won't be pregnant forever.
Congratulations and good luck

You are wise not to want to be induced. Once that happens everything spirals out of your control. Your precious one will come when he or she is darn good and ready. Relaxing is good, but if you feel well enough go for walks and stay busy. It'll make the time go faster now.
When I was pregnant with my second son the doc. wanted to induce at 38 weeks for no reason other than to ensure a vaginal birth (I had a C section with my first). His "theory" was that the baby would be smaller, thus easier to deliver. I switched docs. at 38 weeks! I did have a vaginal birth, but my son was born at 42 weeks and weighed 7 lb. 13 0z. If I'd have been induced at 38 weeks he would've probably only weighed 6 lbs. He obviously wasn't ready. I don't believe that anything you do or don't do will make much difference when the baby will be born, but from what I read inducement leads to more C sections than anything else. Hand in there! You will fall in love big time as soon as you see your baby's little face!

Never really heard of that. While you should take it easy these last few weeks (you'll need your energy to get that baby here), I don't think being tense or anxious will stop him/her from coming. When he/she is ready, he/she is coming. PERIOD. If you fear being induced chemically and you're ready to deliver there are some natural things you can due to move your hormones along. Sex is one. Sperm contains a hormone that naturally sends your hormones into "get ready to deliver" stage. Also eggplant. It contains oxytocin which is what hormone the body produces while in labor. Increasing the amounts you consume will put you closer to holding that little bundle of joy.

Happy Mother's Day!

no, when that baby is ready to come out he/she will come out, i have had three children and i was under stress and it did not hold back my babies, but try not too worry so much, let nature take it's course, you could have the baby two weeks before your due date or two weeks after your due date . your first baby is the hardest one!!!!! your muscle are going to contract anyways because once you go into labor that is what they do to help the baby go down the birth canal... take deep breaths, take a walk, a bath, relax, when it is time you'll know it... the baby will come , when god wants him/her to come....

No. But it could make the baby feel stressed out also. Just try and stay relaxed. Maybe go to a spa!
