I have a 2gb Ipod nano. I am trying to put music onto it, but it will only use 1.1gb, then it says there is no more room for the rest of the songs in my Itunes library. Where it shows the progress bar (USED: 1.11 gb ------- 727 mb free space) then a locked padlock beside it... how do I get the rest of my music onto the Ipod's free space???

Maybe the rest of the space is playing purposes. Just like the computer, if it has too many files in your hard drive, it gets very slow and almost unable to use it. In iPod, the reason probably is that it doesn't want to do a full load for playing music, picture slide show purposes and etc.
Also, the songs that you are trying to download probably exceed the limit of the iPod can store.

Maybe the rest of it is set to store things like pictures. Try looking in the options in iTunes to set how much gb you want to use for what.

the rest of the memory may be taken up by photos. the little padlock beside it has nothing to do with the memory. it just means that you have your iPod set to automatically update
