Europe leads, with Great Britain, Spain, Belgium, Netherlands, Denmark, Norway, and Sweden. Some other European countries have Royal Houses, but not Kings and Queens - Monaco and Liechtenstein are Principalities, ruled by a Prince/Princess; Luxembourg is a Duchy, ruled by a Duke/Duchess.

Terms tend to differ in othe rparts of the world. King is used for Saudi Arabia and Thailand. Japan still has an Emperor. Brunei has a Sultan. The multiple mini-states around the Persian Gulf have Sultans and Sheiks.

jawad has shown you a catalogue and that looks complete, yet do not ignore that in maximum of those the king or queen doesn't actually rule. They reign. they're only a figurehead head of state and the actual authorities is elected. that's termed constitutional monarchy. Take the united kingdom, alongside with England. The Queen has ceremonial responsibilities which includes the once a year State taking off of Parliament (the in uncomplicated words time she ever wears a crown!) yet even then the authorities writes her speech. Her actual purpose is to be non-political, and someone the rustic can all help inspite of you imagine about the authorities. it isn't person-friendly to describe why that's an invaluable ingredient in case you've not grown up with the perception yet to maximum British human beings it feels very significant. The Netherlands even has a nationwide vacation each 3 hundred and sixty 5 days referred to as Queen's Day to have a good time this (i think it's going to be King's Day to any extent further, now that they have got a King!)

England is not ruled by the monarchy, parliament does it all. The Monarchy is more of a symbol. Tony Blair runs it, not the queen.
