You should go into work and tell your manager about your illness and let them decide if they should let you work. They are the ones who will get the code violation not you.

GO! When I was working at a fruit stand during the depression down in Alabama, I went to work wearing only a pairie skirt and it was 10 degrees out. I had pneumonia, but it was the only way I made a living. If that dosen't make you want to go to work, I can sincerley say your a gigalo. Fool.

I generally don't call in sick unless I'm running a fever. As a rule of thumb, that's when you're contagious. (Note: That's not always true & if more symptoms develop, then see your doctor)

I wouldn't, you are around people. I don't want to go in somewhere and come out sick. It may start out as a sore throat but get worse.

If you work with food then you should take the day off or wear a mask. Then who would come to you for food. I would not. Does your boss care if you make people sick. Maybe he/she needs to be fired.

Sounds like you just don't want to go to work and you're seeking approval.

You have mine.

Call it a mental health day.

Show up to work. Maybe your manager will find someone to replace you while you're sick.
