system restore can give u back a virus if u had one back then dont use that to much as then u have to redo updates etc thats not the fix. if u scanned it si ok if it says in reports ok .. lavasoft is betetr than spybot as it kills keyloggers and finds them aand u can tap into the details to see where they came from so u know where not to go next time.. should be safe.

After you have system restored to a previous date, there is a good chance that you have killed your spyware hence it will no longer be detected by Spybot.

To be safe, go to Start --> Run --> type in "MSCONFIG" and go to the Startup tab. Look at the check boxes and see if the spyware's name is there or not. And if so, make sure the box is unchecked. This way, the Spyware will not start the next time you turn on your PC.

if you use system restore after removing spyware then there is a chance, yes, that it will be back after restoring. best way is to disable system restore, then reboot and restart system restore, as this causes windows to delete all previous restore points, and that prevents accidentally restoring the spyware.

recommend you use the tea timer in spybot to help police system settings, that way nothing can change your core system w/o your approval.

If your system is free from spyware, first thing you should do is backup your drives or important files to CD-R(W) or DVD-R(W).

After that, you might want to download other softwares like Windows Defender, Ad Aware, Spy Sweeper, etc. and rescan your PC to double check.
