The group does exists in the form of a number of very isolated, scattered "supporters" that probably do not number more than a few thousand.
In a 2002 report on "Extremism in America", the Jewish Anti-Defamation League wrote "Today, there is no such thing as the Ku Klux Klan. Fragmentation, decentralization and decline have continued unabated." However, they also noted that the "need for justification runs deep in the disaffected and is unlikely to disappear, regardless of how low the Klan's fortunes eventually sink."

Today the only known former member of the Klan to hold a federal office in the United States is Democratic Senator Robert Byrd of West Virginia, who says he "deeply regrets" joining the Klan over half a century ago, when he was about 24 years old. There are currently no known members of the Klan who also hold a Federal office.

There will always be remnants of KKK, or Nazi Party, Black Panthers, but the there season has come and gone. They are occasional oddities that appear on the evening news making a march or doing a demonstration. They have had there 15 minutes of fame....

The KKK is now a respectable political entity. They are not contenders, funny how they would have been 30 years ago. are we entities of fashion, or are we evolving, and is it for the good? Look at the racism of every other country in the world. If we treated them how they treat us when we visit their countries, we would all be accused of being racists. Try wearing a mini skirt in a Muslim country. Are we respected and admired for our weaknesses? I say no.

"Our race is the master race. We are divine gods on this planet. We are as different from the inferior races as they are from insects. In fact, compared to our race, other races are beasts and animals, cattle at best. Other races are considred as human excrement. Our destiny is to rule over the inferior races. Our earthly kingdom will be ruled by our leader with a rod of iron. The masses will lick our feet, and serve us as our slaves."
Menachem Begin

"Every time we do something you tell me America will do this and will do that . . . I want to tell you something very clear: Don't worry about American pressure on Israel. We, the Jewish people, control America, and the Americans know it." -- Ariel Sharon to Shimon Peres, October 3rd, 2001, as reported on Kol Yisrael
