Chess is 100% most definitely a sport, so I think crossword puzzles should be too. Probably reading the comics in the paper as well.

Umm, the most simple answer is no. Also, I don't think any of the other things you have listed are/should be concidered sport(s).

well, its a sport for the mind, like chess is.. but it sure isn't an actual sport.. .
now if they gave penalties for wrong answers (such as you must put your pencil down for 30 seconds for every letter you erase), then crossword puzzles might be a sport

no. sports usually have compition or some level of strategy or something. reading and crosswords do not fall under a sport category.
