go here and download and install the nokia phone suite and you might want to look for drivers/support for the phone. Also, dont have it connected during the installation.

what is your operating system ? Windows XP needs to have service pack 2 before installing the usb cable.

If your intention is to syncronice your phone with computer, u can get a bluetooth dongle and syncronice wirelessly through usb cable, save the hassle of cables.
