I don't believe there is anyone alive over 3 years old who isn't racist to some extent, and the way we overcome this is by getting to know each other better. Yes, I definitely think we should be able to discuss this face to face because, until we do, we can't see each other as individuals as opposed to members of a different group from our own. I never thought of myself as a racist until I had friends of other races. Someone of a different race from mine that I thought of as my best friend sided with members of her own race on a well-publicized issue in which a person of her race clearly committed a crime against a person of my race but ended up not being held accountable. It was a 'red-letter day' in my life. I now see racism as something we can't eliminate and so we must deal with it as best we can.

Yes, Straight-up and Square-biz! It is better to deal with someone as straight forward as possible and state their views, even if it might not be a "popular" viewpoint...
Although I am not racist in any shape or form, I do believe there are a lot of differences between all the cultures that form this America. Sometimes that makes it hard for people to come together for one common goal and one common purpose.

I feel I have been trying to rout out all racism inside me for most of my life. I would welcome any kind of discussion like this with any man or woman of any race, if I did respect them. (I think you should respect all people until they prove that they are not worthy of your respect.) In order for it to be a fair and productive discussion, I would insist that both sides should be encouraged to open up. Having a one-sided accusatory and inflammatory "discussion" is rarely productive. Also, I think this kind of dialog needs to be held on a continuing basis across the entire world on a personal level. It would be a good way to rout out the hard-baked prejudices our families and social circles hammer into us from an early time.

I think we all have some racist thoughts in the back of our minds, regardless of race. I don't know of many people who would be willing to delve into these thoughts that we pretend we don't have to bring about an honest discussion. I suppose it depends on whether you were willing to take the first step.

If I respect someone as a man/woman I would not be racist against them so there would be no need to discuss anything. Racism is about disrespect and hatred.

I don't like to think that I am a racist but everyone has some preconceived notion about people different than oneself. I used to hate people who were alcoholics but God has taught me compassion for them. I used to think people in prison were no good, God has taught me anyone can make a mistake and be forgiven. Sometimes God uses someone very close to you to become what you thought was disgusting in order for you to have understanding. Have mercy on ones ignorance.

I belive everyone is the same. The only thing that is diffrent is the color of skin, and the cultural. We are all the same from the inside and the inside is what counts.
