GO TO SEARS AND GET A CANISTER VAC. THE SEARS BRAND> YOU WILL NEVER BE SORRY. It's about 399.00 and when I did my research it compared to the 1,000.00 vac's. It's a light blue color and has a small beater bar for the car and furniture. It also has a list of repair parts for every part on it, so it can be kept in good repair as long as you use it. My sis had an older model that lasted 30 years. I got rid of an Oreck for mine. It's the best Vac I've ever owned and have been keeping house for 30 years. Uprights will not keep your house clean. This way you can dust all your lampshades, etc with a nice long hose and no tipping over vac. Forget the wind tunnel bull, you will have to buy bags for this one, but I clean my bag out with each use and reuse it. It has a HEPA filter and it's just wonderful!

I just bought a new vacuum cleaner after researching several on the web. I decided to spend a good bit of money on mine after reading horrible reviews on Hoovers, Dysons, etc. Apparently, most of the vacuums made today have plastic internal parts, and break easily when you happen across the inevitable hard object that you didn't see. I was averse to spending so much on a vacuum at first, but when reading the reviews found that I could spend $700 now and get a vacuum that lasts 15 years, or I could spend $200-$300 every 2-3 years. I would highly recommend researching customer reviews before purchasing a Hoover. I would also highly recommend the Sebos. They are designed by German engineers, and they are truly the BMW's of vacuum cleaners. I have found nothing yet that they won't do, and they are extremely user-friendly. Orecks are also very good.

I have a Dyson which I bought in the UK, and a Hoover wind tunnel which I bought in Canada.
Both have one thing in common: They still don't pick up long hair from a carpet.
But the Hoover is much heavier and noisier, while the Dyson still needs changing small filter pads, but keep the exhaust air cleaner than the Hoover would.

I don't like them I have good luck with the Eureka brand and good response from the service dept with this but it is all a matter of taste with what you like best.

Don't get the bagless kind. Then all the dust you just sucked up will end up in your eyes, mouth, and nose when you empty it.
