Beatles, Stones, Floyd, Guns 'n Roses were great. Metallica, U2 still are. All-time best: Led Zepplin.

It is hard to choose one.
Beatles - changed pop/rock music.
Rolling Stones
Led Zepplin
U2
Each bad has a huge influence on music. While 2 of the 4 are not together, their music is still around today, 40 years later! Of course, U2 is the "newer" of the 4, but they have been around over 20 years.

Musician wise Yes is all around very talented. Rush is pretty incredible for the music they put out with only 3 guys.
Van Halen was once a talented band.
Some people may not like these bands or their music, but they are pretty talented musicians.
