I have a 54 gallon saltwater tank with 40 pounds of live rock. Is it enough or should i get more. The similar sized tanks at the fish store seem to have alot more rock then I have.

It depends on what kind of fish you have in the tank. Some of them eat the little critters that make it "live" rock. As they eat, the critters still in the rock need to create more critters. So, the more rock you have, the better chance the critters have with keeping up with the critter eating fish.

When I kept salt water tanks I used about 1 pound per 10 gallons. So, you're pretty close. The reason stores keep more in their tanks is so they have a place to store it.
