My baby is 7 months old and is breastfed - I used to be on the pill, but with the breastfeeding it's not a good idea (because of milk supply), so I am considering the IUD. Just wondering about people's experiences with it. Thanks!

I use the Mirena IUD and all in all, I would have to reccomend it. As a new mother (especially in a monogomous relationship) it's incredibly handy. You don't have to remember to do anything and you dont have to deal with condoms which are otherwise an necesary evil. The procedure to have it put in was quick and painless and the procedure to get it removed sounds the same. Should you decide that you want another child before the 5 years are up, you can theoretically get pregnant again as soon as a week after having it removed. In fact, my only complaint about it at all is the fact that now I don't really have a period to speak of. It's more just spotting at completely random intervals and for various lengths of time. However, Mirena affects different women differently so I cannot say that you will have the same results. Some women stay totally normal, some get no period at all. It varies. I'd say go for it!!

Congratulations on your new baby and good luck!!

It was very uncomfortable to have it inserted but beyond that I haven't had any issues with it.
