I do feed the birds and squirrels sunflower seeds, tossed on the ground. Do skunks eat birdfood? I thinking is that they are attracted to something else but what? But if it is the seeds they are after I will stop. This is unbearable Help!

Even if they are eating the seed, what is the reason for the smell? I though they just sprayed in defence. And No, I won't kill them silly. Looks like my baby squirel Jessy is going to go hungry. AWWW!!!!

They are scavengers and will eat almost anything. Have they tried to get into your garbage bins yet?
Stop the feeding and they should go away.

I don't know but I hope you don't have a dog. A few years ago our little dog got sprayed twice in one month. THAT is a frightening smell when fresh, concentrated, and running through your house! :-( Our dog groomer who washed up our dog with her special "secret ingredient" (and it wasn't tomato juice since she is a white dog, LOL!) told us they keep a territory so you're likely in the territory now. They tend to be out in night and early morning hours.

Hopefully someone will run it over sometime soon and you won't have to worry any more.

The skunk eats about anything. It eats meat as well as greens so the seed eating is very possible. I suggest you contact your local vet and ask who is live trapping animal for relocation. Please don't kill these creatures, they deserve to live as much as we do. Most vets have numbers of rescue agents like myself. I have been saving animals for 41 years.

We had skunks living under our deck & the whole house always smelled. Animal control told us to spread mothballs around because the skunks hate the smell of them & it would drive them away. It worked. Also, they said you could soak rags in ammonia & spread them around to drive them away. Good luck!
