.........if you ask a serious question on here you only get a few answers but everyones up for answering questions like what do you think of kelly osbournes new hair or whos dumber jessica simpson or paris hilton.i just think they are very superficial questions yet they will always get more replys.

I feel the same way you do. But, here lately the serious questions have been kicked off and the meaningless ones are still here. I had 2 good questions removed without an explanation.
The meaningless questions all adds up to getting points. Those questions get more replys because they are easy to answer in anyway they want for 2 points.
I guess there are more kids on here than adults most of the time. I try to answer as many serious questions as I can find. Which they are getting hard to find considering those are getting kicked off of here for some reason.

Today people don't like being challenged very much. If you doubt that look at television. Besides people like computer stuff because it's fun. Look at the billions of dollars spent on computer games and downloading music. If you want a more serious approach you might try the Iowa University BBS. It connects all of the colleges and you are more likely to get scholarly answer there, if you want one. Good luck.

Some people on Answers just blow through the goofy/easy questions and get 2 points, without trying to be helpful. Somewhat annoying, but if the questions weren't asked, they wouldn't be there to get the answers....

You're right about superficial questions getting a big time response, but those are less worrisome than others you see. What's really alarming is the popularity of questions that delve into eating $h!t, smelling farts, anal and oral sex, masturbation, and the advisability of swallowing ***.

i know exaclly what you mean. i believe many people dont answer serious questions because they dont want to use there brain any more than they have to. also many of the people on here are kids so they wont know how to answer right. and there are dumb people on here that wont even understand the questions!

its a way to pass time, maybe only a hand full of people can answer each specific "real" questions, and everyone is just waiting around till they see something they can answer seriously.
you can't expect everyone to know everything, we're not a
hive-thought collective
