I'm straight but I liked the picture when you created your avatar, and just the rainbow showed up on here. Some people asked me if I was because of it, and I hadn't even really thought about what the meaning could represent before that point. Do you ever assume that about people's avatars?

Speaking for myself (and yes, I am lesbian) no such thought crossed my mind. All I saw was a girl with a rainbow behind her.

What does my background say about me.

The rainbow that you are using is the not the standard seven color rainbow. It is the six color (gay flag) rainbow. I use it on my avatar specifically BECAUSE of that. ( I AM a lesbian)

The Avatar is supposed to represent what you want to show to the world in general. In the same way that the clothes you wear say something about you when you walk down the street, your avatar does the same thing on Yahoo.

Just my opinion. :-)

LOL, I wouldn't assume anything of the sort. An avatar isn't like a Car with a Rainbow bumper sticker after all.

No. If a guy became wearing a rainbow bracelet it may be uncomplicated, even with the undeniable fact that it wouldnt advise he became gay. And if a woman wore a rainbow bracelet I wouldnt imagine two times about it, infact i'd probobly imagine it became cute. wish I helped =D

I'd assume that you're a lesbian because most of the time people put the rainbow there because they want to send the message that they're part of the GLBTQQIA communities. Then again, I don't really see how that assumption affects anything. I don't let my assumptions matter much because of how diverse people really are.

No.
I do assume that when they have no avatar and hang out in the gay & lesbian section, though.

By the way, they don't mind if you use their rainbow!
It's all good.

I like rainbows too and I'm not lesbian. I've never heard of it meaning that a person is lesbian! That is ridiculous, and I just last week decided to make a quilt with rainbows on it! darn!

No, but i when I see the rainbow on somebody's avatar, I think that they MIGHT be gay or lesbian, it's like a hint.

Not personally. The rainbow existed far before the gay movement embraced it!
