Why can't they just accept the fact that they are so weirded out and give America a little credit once in a while?

...they eat too much cheese and don't use enough deodorant.

...quit wanting their "approval" we don't need it-

Asia is the new Europe.

Hey JJ, first, you could accept the facts about yourself. I don't know them because I don't know you. Without trying to finish mission impossible here i will just add that it's just different, not weird or lame, just different. I'm a US citizen and I enjoy traveling in Europe. I don't agree with all the cultural differences but then again, who does? I ignore what I don't agree with. Pretty much the way I ignore the American wrestling social group. Not for me.
America does get credit once in awhile-but it's similar to reading the headlines about all the aircraft that landed safely yesterday.

Wow! Where is that coming from? You don't think Americans are perceived as weird in the world? You don't think they feel that they may want all the credit, and then when things go awry wash their hands off of it? And talking about lame Europeans... How many Europeans do you know? Maybe you're from European blood, and that may explain it... You tell us!

I am assuming that you haven't spent much, or for that matter any, time in Europe and are just speaking in terms of stereotype and prejudice. That vast majority of Europeans I have met are normal decent people who aren't "weired out" at all.

As for their general views of America, That we are unsophisticated, aggressive, demanding and that our foreign policy is thick skulled, and in many cases true. I am not saying that all or even most Americans are any or all of those things, but in general we do tend to act like the bully in the schoolyard.

By the same token, one should give a nod of respect to a group of people that have maintained civil societies for a good 2500 years, before thumbing our collective noses at them. Especially when compared to our meager 350.

Er..because America still has people like you in it? Because America is still like the worlds largest freak show?

Come on guys, beauty pagents for 6 year olds, hardcore Christians, 'The World Series' (in which only America plays?!?)

and you think we're weird?

My guess is that if any Europeans do think poorly of Americans as a group, it is because of people like you.

Partially its the influence of propaganda, and partially its the fact that we don't always deserve any credit.
