puppies should be left for a maximum of 2-4 hours at a time.
If you have the time, patience and endurance for rainy walks, puddles in the house etc then get a dog - the rewards will be soo worth it.

Having a dog can be the most rewarding experience as long as you are responsible about the care of the dog. Puppies need lots of attention and patience. Crate training is a really effective method if you have to be away from the house for any length of time. But be sure to allow plenty of outdoor playtime so puppy gets plenty of exercise.
Have fun!

If it's what you really want and feel you can give a dog a loving home then go for it.
