Beth gave a great answer but I would add one little thing. If you have a little brownish spotting it's no big deal. If you have bright red bleeding call your doctor immediately.

Yes, it is possible however only happens to a small number of pregnant women. If you think you are pregnant and you are still seeing a bloody discharge you should talk to your doctor or OBGYN. A bloody dischage during pregnancy maybe a sigh to an early misscarriage. However hormones during a womens pregnancy can cause a light period for the first couple of months, or a pinkish discharge during the early weeks of pregnancy may be due to implantation bleeding. When the fertilized egg implants itself in the uterus.

Hope this helps :)

I have read a few people saying yes, however, my OB says no. Menstruation is the shedding of the uterine lining each month when no egg is implanted. If you continued to have a period, the pregnancy would not continue in a healthy fashion and the egg would be shed with the lining. If you are pregnant and bleeding, please see a doctor today.

Yep, it's possibe. It really just depends on the woman. Some women menstruate for their entire pregnancy. Another medical "mystery".

It is possible to bleed every month even though you are pregnant. Technically it's not menstruating.

well, i wouldn't call that mesntruation. the bleeding that a pregnant patient could only mean a few other things but never menstruation. its often called accidents of pregnancy. during the first trimester, bleeding would mean an abortion that could be anything from threatened, to inevitable to complete abortion. during the 2nd and third trimester. bleeding could be due to placenta previa ( which is a low lying placenta prone to injury ) or abruptio placenta ( which is premature separation of the placenta prior to the onset of labor ) or finally, it could be a bloody show which signifies the start of labor.

It is possible for a woman to bleed during pregnancy and she might think its her period but it of course isn't, in the technical sense. But some woman do bleed through the entire pregnancy, I say don't trust anyone from Yahoo! but go talk to your OB.

Bleeding happens only if the woman miscarries. And if you miscarry, you aren't really pregnant anymore. So the technical answer is "no."

But don't let this cause a panic alert.... some people before me said that if it's just a little, it's probably not a problem.
