What are all these small bugs flying around at the end of this summer?

No see mes? How long do they live? Seems like there have been more than usual this year.

gnats. put out a small plate of water in the morning, and at the end of the day count how many gnats have drowned in it.

Usually "nets" (I'm not sure if that is the scientific name for them), but they are very small and annoying and fly together.

Fruit flies, they are out in big numbers at my place right now
