oK LADY
let me explain a few things
in soccer the only player who can touch the ball with hands is the goalkeeper. the others must use hands only when the ball goes out of the ground, but only in the long side
if the ball goes out in the short side they must use feets
the aim is to put the ball behind the goal line, more or less like in hockey
the offside is different from hockey's; if you pass the ball to a player, he is offside if in the moment you pass there aren't at least two oppsite players between him and the goal line
2 yellow cards = red card (if given in the same match the player leaves the ground and his team will play without a man for the rest of the match)
the cards are meant to punish dangerous behaviours, intentional faults and so on
the match is made of two half times, each of 45 minutes
when a winner is needed, if the score is still draw after 90 minutes, there are 2extra times, each of 15 min
if drawn rexult rexists after those, there are penalties, like shoot out in hockey, but the ball and the goalkeeper must stand stopped until referee whistles
then the ball must be shot with a single touch
an important rule is that legs should be kept below the belt, while approaching an opposite player
and is also forbidden to use the "sole" that can be really dangerous for the opponent
the team who scores more goals gets 3 points, the loosers 0
if the match is draw, 1 point to both teams
i guess these are the main rules to understand something of soccer
but being italian i'm not sure it is all clear.
so ask again if you need more informations

hmmmm..... probably the USA, because, apart from england, they have the most players in their squad that i've heard of (howard, beasley, edu and altidore- i know.... get me lol), i would've supported france (not quite as much as a scotsman in a kilt but frenchman are pretty fit) but they couldnt keep their hands to themselves (i was actually rooting for the rep of ireland after scotland were out grr it's been a bad campaign) so it's USA or italy like last year or brazil like the time before that but really..... A.B.E and i'll be happy lol =D bonus q- levein has impressed me more than i thought he would, he knows the right team, has given players a fresh start (we need boyd etc in the side and are too thin and bare without him), he got the win against the czech rep and has been much more promising than burley. with the addition of promising youngsters (thomson-hearts, wilson- rangers, cairney- hull, etc) coming through the ranks, showing quality and improving older players in the push for places, we can only improve on what has been a dismal few years for the side and hopefully qualify for euro and beyond.... ahh now i'm dreamin =)

3 points for a victory, 1 point for draw, zero 0 for defeat
