voice connections require a traditional modem to accomplish that (and a regular phone line connected to your computer's modem.)

your computer right now is probably connected by a network card to your dsl modem. the dsl modem can't dial out like a traditional analog modem can (or like a regular phone would).

ADSL is a telephone connection.

Various spyware known as rouge dialers dials some numbers, usually unknown to the user, and usually leaves behind charges and bills for the telephone calls.

When infected, the user should remove and clean the virus ASAP before it can charge a lot of money. Otherwise, try reformating the PC.
