What are the chances of getting a false response on the pregnancy test? I have heard of getting false negatives but I got a positive on my test what are the chances that it could be false? I cant get into the doctor until next week.

Yes I have symptoms, my period is a week late, I am moody, crampy, very tired, my boobs hurt, I have to pee all the time and I feel like crap. I just dont want to get my hopes up if it could be false.

To make a positive on the test your body has to have the pregnancy hormone in your urine. In other words you can definitly get a false negative but a false positive would be pretty much imposible. If you want to be sure just take another test of another brand and you will have your answer! Good Luck and Congrats (I think)

You can get a premature positive. If there is an egg trying to implant, your body will start producing hcg, which will give a positive reading. But, on the chance it is a "blighted ovum" -- or an egg that will not "take" -- you could get a false positive as your body cycles through what is very natural.
I've seen statistics that up to a third of "pregnancies" end in extremely early natural termination--they never really started--meaning they weren't actually full blown pregnancies--they are mother nature's way of saying not yet.
Take care, this will be a stressful time until you know for sure!

There are almost no false positives, unless you have recently had a miscarriage, an abortion or are taking certain fertility medications that cause HCG levels to rise in your body. Otherwise, the test only picks up HCG, not anything else. Chances are good that you are pregnant-good luck!

If I'm correct you don't get false positives just false negatives. With the exception of you being on hormone therapy.

Well you can't, you are pregnant. Get over the shock and try to take it in the news. If you don't believe it take the test again but I can guarantee it's going to be positive as well.
