the licenced gasfitter or plumber would have to change the orrices on the burners and set the gas pressure to accept propane. nat gas is run at 7"wc where as propane is run at 11"wc . nat gas orrifces are bigger than propane and the difference is nat gas 1000btu to propane at 2500btu. depending on the model of the stove you may just get away with reversing the orrifce inside the stove regulator.Consult your manual that came with your stove if you have it or ask your appliance store for a detailed list.
some water heaters are again both, Giant makes one its designed for mobile homes that could hook up to both. again the gas pressure has to be set.
if your is not then you need to purchase a new gas valve and burner assembly cost around $200 - $250
i would recommend you hire someone to do this for you, as you would not have access to a manometer to adjust the gas presure, and its a lot of money to go out buy one just to do this.

You must buy a Propane Gas Valve for the Water heater, I just did, cost with shipping $200- no one stocks them. The Gas Range , I think simply Reversing the Orffice in the Control valve. works -
You might consider buying an Electric Water heater- instead of that valve. cost about the same to operate now.

If you mean converting from "Natural Gas" to "Propane" (LP), your LP supplier should have the parts you need, and may have a service man to do this for you. If you don't know what your doing you could potentially cause an EXPLOSION. For your own safety, hire a PRO.

Do you mean propane. If so it depends on the manufacturer of the appliances. Butane is for lighters.
tell us if propane is what you are thinking of..

Do you mean butane or propane? Just wondering.

All you need to do is 'rejet the burners'.
