You can keep it secret in UK... there is no rule that says you have to tell.
I used to think I wouldn't keep it secret if I ever won... because I'm very open and up front and love to share everything I have... but, certain events inside my family have made me change my mind.
I'd not tell anyone now.... because, I want to be valued as I am... and I want to help other needier people quietly... and though I want to help my own, they sadly don't respect money and waste it badly... and I know they'd immediately give up work and become extremely idle... so, throwing money at them would do more harm than good and mess them up.
I'd invest it in their more mature futures... in trust funds that don't acrue until they've seriously matured enough to value people and life and money... with 'clauses' that would protect them, should it be really necessary though... and they wouldn't know about it, since money can buy silence... only my most trusted trustees, would be in the know and be keeping an eye on all their needs.
A life learned lady!

I would never play the lottery, but if buy some magic, i did win, i would not even tell my wife. I would then formulate a plan, probably something like helping the homeless and then go about setting up my own charity. I would buy buildings, have telethons, and use my money to make more. I would then try and help as many poor starving and destitute people as i could. I am not religious.

Depends on how much, but I'll tell you one thing for sure. If it was a big win you would never ever be able to keep it a secret.
They also say that most winners within the first year wish they hadn't won so much.
Instant wealth can be a curse as well as blessing.

I would keep it to myself. Especially, where I live. I quite like the street I live on. So I would prefer not for neighbours or the community to know, because I would feel if they did know, I maybe forced to move, due to people becoming jealous and spiteful. I don't want people on my door pleading and begging for money. I wouldn't want to see friends that i haven't seen for years, suddenly turning up due finding out i have had been in the papers for the winnings.

Before I read the book by Frank Cottrell Boyce called Millions I would have told everyone! But now, after knowing that there could be a whole lot of people just to come to your doorstep and ask for money! I would give half of it to a charity, but not one that comes begging onto my doorstep!

I wouldn't tell anyone because I'm sure some family members would want a gift even though they would ask for a loan. My family members are bad about not repaying their debts and I doubt I'd ever see the money again

Everyone will find out anyways. The lottery companies make you sign a thing saying they can go public with your name.

I would definitely keep it a secret, you tell everyone and they'd suddenly want to be your best friend. I'd probably tell my mum though as I'd want to give her some of the money.

I would keep it a secret. The less people knew the better off you would be.
