Nice to know I'm not the only one in this situation! :P My advice is have something cold, and try not to eat too many salty things.

Theres a few things you could do. I recommend taking warm tap water (lukewarm), take about 4 oz (1/2 glass) mixing in 1-2 teaspoons of salt, and swishing it around in your mouth for 30 second intervals until the water in the glass is gone.
Or, what normally works for me is to get a bottle of peroxide, take about 30 cc (1 ounce, approx. 4 capfuls) swish it in your mouth (do not dilute it in water or anything else, take it straight) swish it in your mouth for 30 seconds 3-4 times a day. It really does not have a taste to it. Do not rinse your mouth out afterward for about 5 minutes. Let that peroxide get in there and do its job.
The mouth heals faster than other skin does, since its constantly subjected to acidic foods, hot foods, cold foods, etc etc etc...
Avoid sour foods, salty foods (like chips), and spicy foods until this clears up. Those things can really irritate a sore in your mouth. You can suck on ice, keeping the ice over the sore area, that might give you some temporary relief. Oragel or a product similar will numb the area for you (they really taste bad though)
Hope this helps out.

time is the best remedy, but until it kicks in, cold fluids and softer foods will help the mouth.

I know it stinks but the best thing is time. I would also swish with Listerine. Sorry, I know it sounds painful, but that helps me whenever I have any sort of mouth pain.

Time. The mouth heals very quickly. If you do anything else other than leave it alone...you could aggravate it and make it last longer. Leave it alone.
