As long as they're in your ears and not, say, up your nose, you should be fine ;-)

Yes. In fact, they actually make earplugs specifically for sleeping. I'm a light sleeper too, and work third shift. The walls are too thin in my apartment building, and people are naturally loud during the day when I'm sleeping. I use them too, but be warned. I've been late to work quite a few times because I was in such a deep sleep that I couldn't hear my alarm clock go off. One day in particular I went to bed late and didn't hear the alarm clock go off and slept through half of my work day and almost got fired for it.

I work a lot of nights on the railways and have to use earplugs during the day just to get some sleep.
You should only wear them for two hours at a time or you get a build up of bacteria in the ear itself.
Since thats not possible for me i first make sure my ears are really clean, make sure my hands are clean when I put them in and lastly use a clean set every day.
You can wash them in a washing mahine incidentally, just put them in a trouser pocket!
best i can do- hope it helps.

I've been sleeping with ear plugs for years but my left ear sometimes hurts and I wonder if it is related. It is either ear plugs or divorce so will stick with the ear plugs, at least for now. Unless my husband divorces me for adultery and cites the ear plugs.
