Well, depends on how far along you are. If its close to your do date, then it could still be braxton hicks. For me, they hurt quite a bit because my stomach would get hard and I would feel some cramping. They are normal. If your doctor tells you that your cervix is totally closed its because your havent really started actual labor. Your doctor is the best judge on that and if you think you are contracting then they will monitor you. Dont hesitate to go in and be checked if the pain gets worse you feel pain in your back, or your scared. Better to be safe then sorry hun.

My braxton hicks were painless. If they started to ache, I would take extra calcium and then they did not hurt anymore. My doctor had me on 2000 mg of calcium a day with my first pregnancy.

If you really think this is labor, it may be. Get on you hands and knees and make like you are washing the floor by hand. This works like a charm. If you are in labor, this will hurry it along. Or, if you continue to cramp, go ahead to the hospital. They may keep you and monitor you.

BH contractions are just practice contractions, from the uterus stretching or getting baby into position for birth. If they make you feel bad, wait till labor starts. Try a tylenol for the pain if your doc thinks it's okay. How far along are you?

to relieve the contractions, do that hand-knee thing in a bathtub, the water will support the weight and ease the pressure on your ligaments
