I've never been to a health spa but my girlfriend (who would live there given half a chance) syas that Waterfall Spa in Leeds is the best in the country.

They're open late every day but you have to book quite a bit an advance. It's women only and there's everything you could possibly want. It's apparently expensive but well worth it.

Her advice, if you really want to treat yourself, is to go for the Indulge package which is an all day package including lots of different treatments, meals etc. It's £300 per person per day.

There is no accommodation but there are lots of hotels very close by.

If you're wanting to stay at the resort then the Oulton Hall Hotel between Leeds and Wakefield is very good.

Not sure about North England, but if you want a wee trip up to Scotland, try The St Andrews Bay Hotel and Spa. It is pricy , but an absolutely fab place to pamper yourself.

OK I'm a bloke, so a bit out of my depth here, but my wife used to frequent the Harrogate Spa when I lived in Leeds.

Have you thought of having a pamper-party at your house? That's a lot cheaper and you still get a very professional and high quality service!
