greenhouse gases like co2 allow solar radation to come through to the surface of earth warming it
but they do not allow the reflected radations to escape back out of the atmosphere

the increased industrial activity in the last 2 centuries had resulted in
very high co2 emissions thus incresing the avg temp of earth in the last century resulting in what is called as global warming.

it has started affecting global climate adversely
one of the major threats it poses is that inccreased temp is resulting in large ice bodies over antartica and artict melting down increasing se4a level and drowning coastal areas worldwide including major cities which stand along the caosts.

Global warming is increase in the earth's temperature due to increased level of carbon-dioxide and methane (greenhouse gases) as a consequences of industrialisation and deforestation. Heat gained by earth from the sun is radiated back by the earth. Some of this radiated heat is absorbed by the greenhouse gases and reflected back towards earth, thus making the earth's surface warmer. Global warming is a serious concern for the existence of the mankind.

Global warming refers to an average increase in the Earth's temperature, which in turn causes changes in climate. A warmer Earth may lead to changes in rainfall patterns, a rise in sea level, and a wide range of impacts on plants, wildlife, and humans. When scientists talk about the issue of climate change, their concern is about global warming caused by human activities.
