If there's something that I particularly want then I bid right at the very last moment.

Set yourself a maximum price and if the bidding does above this then don't be tempted to increase your bid.

Open two windows both with the item in question. Log in and place your bid, click the submit button, this will take you to a confirmation screen. If you press submit again your bid will be placed - don't do this just yet.

Instead go to the other screen and keep refreshing it and keep an eye on the time remaining, when there are just a few seconds left return to the original screen and submit your bid.

I usually submit my bid when there are 2 or 3 seconds remaining (I have a fast broadband connection so you may want to submit your bid a bit earlier).

If you do this you will probably place the very last bid but... if someone has already placed a higher bid then you won't have time to bid again; for this reason place the highest bid you're prepared to pay.

You can use programs that automatically place your bid right at the very last moment. This one is free http://bidtamer.auctionstealer.com/home.cfm and this one offers a free trial http://www.auctionsniper.com/

You can try to beat the clock... but there might be someone faster.. If you are dying to buy the item, make a very large bid. The bidding is done incrementally and you will only pay the amount of the last bid for the item.. not the amount you actually place in que, unless the bids go as high as your amount.
Good luck

I would say in the last minutes, just keep bidding until your maximum price. If someone else wants it it also they will be doing the same, just hope there maximum price is lower then yours. Many items are repeated so if you miss out, they may relist. You could also try emailing the seller if they have more and are a power seller they will be happy to help.
Don't get all caught up in the bidding thing, remember the maximum price you are willing to pay.

Do it now! and then keep on monitoring for any other bidders over-ride your bid. If over-rides , Bid again.. Just keep on Monitoring! dont wait tille the last 30 Seconds as it might not recognice you or it will close the bid in that time. - Dr.Doom.

EBay bids against you itself, and if you do not meet the priice set by the seller you do not get it.
