I am 16 weeks pregnant and still not showing but am worried about when I start to. I have always slept on my stomach and I don't know what ill do, I have been trying to sleep on my sides to get used to it but I just can't I just roll right over on my stomach. I heard that the pregnancy pillow really helps and I was wondering if anyone here has tried it or has any other suggestions...

As an RN and a mother of 5, I loved to sleep on my belly but during the pregnancy I couldn't not only was it uncomfortable but it is not good for the baby. The best bet is to sleep on your left side, try putting a pillow between your legs and under your side for optimum comfort. I know it sounds weird but it feels great. If not on your back with 3 to 4 pillows under your knee area and a few under your head to prop you up some. I hope this helps! Good Luck and Congrats!!!!

I asked my midwife this as when i was about 16 weeks i would wake up on my stomach, she said its fine as the baby is very well protected inside the womb and the fluid and that make the most of it cos when you do show - as i am now, it won't be possible to lay on your belly, she aint wrong lol. Although now at 27 weeks i'm using a V-shape pillow i put between my legs and around my bump, worth a try but don't worry, baby is very well protected.

Also when you do get bigger sleeping on your side is the best bet because if you were to sleep on your back your uterus pushes down on the baby and the baby not be able to take the weight as you get bigger - i used to wake up on my back and i'd feel empty like i wasn't pregnant anymore and that scared me.. so either way stick to your side (left is best for the circulation) -x-

Pregnancy pillows or similar devices can help. Sleeping on your side is very important. As you "get bigger" you will find it harder and harder to roll onto your stomach and if you do, you will become more and more uncomfortable.

Hospital patients often have similar problems if the "wires and tubes" require them to sleep on their backs. At least a hospital bed will "bend" to allow for some comfort. The pillow should have a similar effect.

Talk with your O.B. doctor or chiropractor about a pillow that will help and do so as soon as possible.

I had the same problem. I slept on my belly until it got uncomfortable. Trust me you'll know when you can't sleep on it anymore. I sleep on my side now I put a pillow between my legs and one under my stomach. It helps but I can't wait until it's over so I can sleep on my belly again. Hope this helps.

As you do get bigger, you won't be able to lay on your stomach. It will be very uncomfortable. Get a body pillow or preg. pillow. I had trouble sleeping also. You just have to work through it. I didn't sleep well, cause I couldn't lay like I wanted. It's all part of being pregnant!!

haven't tried the pillow but common sense would suggest you won't be able to sleep on your stomach for much longer...don't squash the baby sleep on your back it's only for a few months

I was just like you when I was 27 and as my pregnancy progressed, I eventually wound up finding that my side worked. Do what feels comfortable while you can then adjust as things move along...After I delivered, I found that for YEARS I could not lie on my tummy until now and I am 51!!!!

Don't worry...when you get bigger you won't want to sleep on your stomach because it'll be incredibly uncomfortable. I was always a stomach sleeper too, and now, two kids and three years later, I CAN'T sleep on my stomach...just doesn't feel right. :)

One of my friends had the same problem. She got several pillows & put them under her, so that her bump was in the hole in the middle of the pillows. She said it worked great--sounds uncomfortable to me! :)
