I'm a woman and I usually pay by debit card at the supermarket which I always have somewhere near to hand (like in my pocket or just inside my handbag for quick retrieval). If it's only a few items, I calculate the cost and have the cash ready. As for the ladies (and guys!!) that you're speaking of, perhaps they've been too busy chatting to other shoppers whilst they've been in the queue (shopping is a social exercise too), or they may have so many things on their mind that they were too busy mulling them over while they were waiting, to think about money. I agree it can drive you mad, especially if you've popped out during your lunchbreak and the precious minutes are ticking away while the person, or people, in front of you at the queue spend an age making payment!

Oh! what a good question, best all night. And they are supposed to be able to multi task. They don't realise, no sorry, they don't care that it annoys men, and it won't bother other women because they are nearly all as bad. There is no point in tutting because they are so into themselves that they don't even realise how annoying it is. It is the same mentality that causes aisles to be blocked by women having conversations with their friends, totally oblivious to the problems they are causing. The problem you have alluded to has been christened, 'purse syndrome'. Put simply, it is selfish and grossly inefficient. It hasn't been caused by supermarkets, however, because I remember as a child my father complaining, that when the corner shop was full of women, they were far more concerned with talking to each other and the female sales assistant than getting on with being served. He wanted only a few items and was wanting to catch a particular bus, they had long shopping lists, but didn't offer to let him go next, even though they weren't in any particular hurry.
I am sorry friend, but this attitude has been going on for years, it won't change because that's the way they are. SELFISH!

Our neighbours cat is called Sparky, so I am not going to start off by being rude to you and saying things like 'I bet you're a man!'
If you are out shopping on your own and have a huge trolley full of shopping, you can only load the stuff back into your trolley or bags. You can't simultaneously have your money ready. It can be difficult to unload your stuff then load it all back again when it has been scanned, scanning is quick, putting things away so it doesn't get squashed or broken is bound to be slower.
If you have got small children with you it is even more difficult because keeping an eye on them is always going to be your priority.
You don't always want to take your cash or cards out because you don't want them to disappear in the pile of shopping.
My husband comes shopping with me, we both unload the trolley, then he starts filling the bags while I get the money ready. It is easy when you have someone to help you.
I am sorry to say your question has annoyed me.
Men don't often carry bags so it's the woman who has to carry house keys, car keys, glasses, tissues; driving licence etc in her bag.

I used to work at a cash and carry where you needed a regestration card to use the checkout - people would get to the checkout, queue, get to their turn, spend 5 mins finding their purse/ wallet with the card in, I would scan heir stuff, while I scanned the stuff they would put their purse/ wallet away and then have to spend a further 5 mins looking for it when I ask them to pay! What morons humans are.

Very good question.
Its to do with the way their brains work.
When women shop, run the f away, is my advice.
Ive been told things like, yes i know i wanted white shoes, but these red ones.....
The wife never has her money ready, ever, ever, ever.
Once women get inside a shop, normal human thought seems to be replaced with, i must see everything, i must be everywhere, this is really important, other women will judge me on what i buy.
Easy thing to do is just cancel the cards, dont give her any money, and tell her to shop online.
problem solved..

That's a good question. I know this happens in my country as well, I would love to do a poll and see if it happens all over the world. What about when they finally get there purse out and then start trying to find the one credit card out of twenty that hasn't blown it's credit.

God I wondered why people behind me always get annoyed, seriously though it is very annoying, I never carry money me, a bit like the queen I am, I just put the money in my hubby's wallet and he sorts it out when we get to the till, we don't have his and her money, we just have our money and get what we want that way, easier and no falling out either.

I do, yet when I don't want to take my purse I ask my husband if he has his wallet, yes he says, so you pay then I say.
Yet we come to pay he looks blankly and then it registers he is paying this time.
(our money is all shared equally so it's not a case of letting him pay)
