your doctor might prescribe COLCHICINE it works but might give you the runs so don't plan any trips until you test it first.I use 800mg of IBUPROFEN and it works just as well and I have no side affects.And it is one of the most painful things I have EVER experienced. GOOD LUCK

Gout is certainly not a result of "good living" although that can encourage it.
It is connected with high levels of uric acid.
I can vouch for the truth of my initial statement because I've suffered from it. And, indeed, it does hurt. Lots. It goes when it's good and ready, and will return when it feels like it. Not necessarily to the same joint either.

By 'Provide' i assume you mean "prevent". Gout is a disease caused by drinking excess alcohol. It causes the joints of the toes to swell up and is amazingly painful. to prevent it all you can really do is moderate how much you drink
